New students (not previously enrolled at IFSB) ages 7-18 years old are required to attend a placement class. Please see the schedule below.

Youth Ballet and Contemporary Classes
Level 1 (ages 4 and 5)
Tuesdays 3 - 3:45 pm
Thursdays 3 - 3:45 pm
At this level, students attend class once a week. Students are introduced to basic coordination and flexibility skills while learning the correct use of the legs and feet, as well as beginning French terminology. The joy of movement is encouraged.
Level 2 (ages 5 to 7)
Tuesdays 3:45 - 4:45 pm
Thursdays 3:45 - 4:45 pm
At this level, students are required to attend class once a week. The barre progression includes more exercises for placement and strength while having a stronger emphasis on technique. The ballet vocabulary is expanded, and students begin incorporating musicality into their work.
Levels 3, 4, 5 (ages 7 to 10)
Level 3 Mondays and Wednesdays 3:45 - 4:45 pm
Level 4 Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:45 - 4:45 pm
Level 5 Mondays and Wednesdays 3:45 - 4:45 pm
At this level, students are required to attend class twice a week. The emphasis on these levels of instruction includes correct body placement and alignment as well as correct execution of barre and center exercises. Within this framework, we encourage students to enjoy the sense of traveling through space, and students learn to differentiate movement for artistic expression.
Levels 6, 7, 8 (ages 10 to 15)
Level 6 Tuesdays 5:00 - 6:30 pm and Thursdays 4:45 - 6:15 pm
Level 7 Mondays and Wednesdays 4:45 - 6:15 pm, Thursdays 6:15 - 7:45 pm
Level 8 Mondays 6:15 - 7:45 pm, Tuesdays 5:45 - 7:45 pm, Thursdays 4:45 - 6:15 pm
Level 6 students are required to attend class two times per week; Level 7 and 8 students are required to attend class three times per week. Additional classes are encouraged. Students are instructed regarding professionalism with an expectation of consistency, commitment, and focus. Technical work includes multiple turns and batterie. When students are ready, they begin pointe training. Strength training classes for jumps and turns are included.
Levels 9 and 10 (ages 15 to 18)
Level 9 Mondays 6:15 - 7:45 pm, Tuesdays 5:45 - 7:45 pm, Thursdays 4:45 - 7:45 pm (includes contemporary), Saturdays 9:00 - 11:00 am
Level 10 Monday 6:15 - 7:45 pm, Tuesday 4:45 - 6:30 pm, Wednesday 6:15 - 7:45 pm, Thursday 6:15 - 7:45 pm (includes contemporary), Saturday 9:00 - 11:00 am
Men’s class Mondays 7:45 - 8:15 pm
Level 9 students are required to take a minimum of four ballet classes per week. Level 10 students are required to take a minimum of five ballet classes per week. Advanced levels are encouraged to attend additional ballet classes. Students refine technique and grow in artistry while learning to adapt to teachers and choreographers. Classical repertoire is incorporated into classwork to strengthen and expand pointe skills. Students at this level are also permitted to study Contemporary Ballet. Strength training classes for jumps and turns are included.
